This is a week to thank our bus drivers and to remind families that school buses are more environmentally-friendly and safer than cars. One school bus can keep up to 72 cars off of the road, reducing pollution and traffic congestion.
Encourage students who are provided with a school bus to ride their assigned bus on ‘Ride the Bus Day’ Thursday, February 15th!

Coffee & Doughnuts
Thank the bus drivers with a coffee and doughnut table in the morning so that they start their day off right.
Make Cards
Provide bus riders with paper and markers to make cards for their drivers.
Thank You Poster
Have your school leadership team make a large poster using butcher paper for bus riders to write a message and sign. Hang the poster where your drivers will see it as they drop off students.
Greeting Committee
Have your principal and your school mascot greet each bus as it arrives at the school. Give each kid a high five as they exit.

Love The Bus Week
Join us next week as we celebrate the big yellow school bus! During Love the Bus week we invite parents, students, and staff to take a moment to thank the 270 bus drivers that safely transport 28,000 students to our Beaverton schools daily.
Elementary students are encouraged to create a card and show appreciation for their bus driver during the week. On Wednesday, 2/12, all elementary students who ride their school bus will also receive a prize! For more information and to download a card template visit www.beaverton.k12.or.us/safe-routes

Don't forget to ride the bus tomorrow for Ride The Bus Day! This is a great chance for kids to try riding the bus to see how they like it. The more kids on the bus, the fewer cars there are on the road clogging traffic and polluting the air.
