Students walk to school to honor Ruby Bridges. Families are encouraged to visit the Beaverton City Library for our “I Am Ruby Bridges” Story Walk and book raffle. Safe Routes can assist schools who want to organize a Walking School Bus for this event.
Thank you for your interest in celebrating this event! because this is an optional event, please be sure to register by 11/1 so that Safe Routes to school can support you!

We have partnered with the Beaverton City Library to create a story walk for students to visit at Library Park in front of the main library branch from 11/1 - 11/15, closed 11/11. Students who visit the story walk can scan a QR code and enter to win a copy of the book, " I am Ruby Bridges.” This is a great opportunity for students to use their Student Library Card and check out books about Ruby Bridges. New students to BSD this year, will receive their Student Library Card by mail before winter break.

Ruby bridges walk to school day
Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day is coming soon on Tuesday, 11/14. Join students from around the country in a walk for justice and take steps to build a better future where racism, and all forms of bullying, have no place.
Ruby Bridges made history at 6 years old when she integrated William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans and became a national icon for the civil rights movement in 1960.
We have partnered with the Beaverton City Library to create a story walk for students to visit at Library Park in front of the main library branch from 11/1 - 11/15, closed 11/11.
